3 Fun Ways to Amp Up Your July 4th Cookout with MiSOgood

Cookout season is finally here! After more than a year of social distancing, we’re excited to get out there, fire up the grill, and clink glasses with friends and family again. If you’re anything like us, you’re ready to pull out all the stops to make July 4th cookouts memorable.

And that means preparing some cookout food that will make your guests sit up and say, “WOW!”

That’s where our trusty bottles of MiSOgood come in! Here are four ways you can amp up the flavors of your cookout this July 4th with our unique flavored MiSOgood sauces.

Add It to Your Burgers

MiSOgood can add a significant zing of umami to your burgers, making them even more mouth-watering. There are essentially two ways to use miso when it comes to burgers:

Add it directly to the mix: This method essentially “marinates” your burger meat. It’ll give your burgers a nice, rich flavor while keeping them moist. Keep in mind that adding moisture can sometimes result in burgers that fall apart, so consider also adding breadcrumbs and an egg or two to help bind your burger meat.

Use it as a finishing glaze: A tasty way to finish your burgers! We like to do a 4-step burger glaze:

    1. Grill the first side for about 3 – 5 minutes (depending on how hot your grill is).
    2. Flip and brush on the glaze using a silicone grill brush. Cook for another 3 minutes.
    3. Flip again and brush glaze on side 2. Cook for another 2-3 minutes.
    4. Flip one last time, re-apply the glaze, and cook for about 2 minutes.

Salads Galore!

Potato salad and pasta salad are the two staples of any good cookout. But too often, they’re too gooey and loaded with fat from mayonnaise. So here are two healthy alternatives that will light up the tastebuds of even the most traditional potato or pasta salad lovers.

MiSOgood Potato Salad
What’s a cookout without potato salad? This delicious original recipe combines miso, lemon juice, agave, and some other yummy ingredients that come together for a savory, sweet, sour oomph that’s balanced but oh so satisfying.

Ginger MiSOgood Pesto Pasta Salad
This pasta salad bursts with flavor and uses traditional and unexpected ingredients to deliver a satisfying taste in each bite! Add in juicy cherry tomatoes, crunch cucumbers, and some herby pesto, and you’ve got yourself a real crowd-pleaser that will have guests coming back for more.

Refreshing Drinks

We know miso is delicious in food, but did you know you can also add it to various summer drinks to add more depth and complexity?

Our favorite is this MiSOgood Watermelon Agua Fresca. This crowd-pleaser is fast and easy to make with just three ingredients (watermelon, Sweet & Savory White Miso, and water). Want a more adult version? Tip in 1 oz of light rum for each 6 oz of agua fresca. Garnish with mint for some refreshing herbiness.
